Ya know, it's been more than a month since I last posted on this thing. But I read something that really pisses me off recently about the New England Patriots.

We have all of these old coaches who are pining for their glory days coming out of the woodwork and dissing the Patriots, saying things like "How can you possibly compare a present-day team like the Patriots to our great team, the ?"

Jimmy Johnson, head coach of the Cowboys during the majority of their dynasty, had this doozy:

"As much as I admire the Patriots, and Bill Belichick . . . I really don't think you can compare post-salary cap and pre-salary cap," former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson said. "I just don't think the teams are as good with all the player movement, free agency and the salary cap. I think Bill and I pretty well agree on it. The Steelers, 49ers and Cowboys - that was the best football that has ever been played."

Hey, Jimmy, last I checked, in 1994, Bill Belichick beat your dynasty with the CLEVELAND BROWNS (19-14). Eric Metcalf was actually on a team that beat you down. You don't think that these New England Patriots are better than the 1994 Cleveland Browns????

1993 was also considered a year that the 49ers were still within their dynasty (this was around the time the niners and cowboys would face each other every year in the NFC). Tell me... how did the Niners do against the 7-9 Browns? They lost, 23-13. I'm pretty certain that the New England Patriots would've beaten your teams.

Trust me, Jimmy, this team is a heluva lot more talented than anyone gives them credit for... which suits them fine. Bill Belichick is the master of setting gameplans, but you need the right pieces in the right places in order to be able to strategize. That's what's been done here.

This New England Patriot team would've DOMINATED your Dallas Cowboy team. This team is, in my opinion, the greatest ever, and not because I love them. This team understands football at its primal level, ie, to take away the strongest thing you do and make them beat you with something you don't feel comfortable doing. Do you think your Cowboy offense was any more dangerous than the present day Indianapolis Colts? We made Peyton Manning look like Dan Marino in a real hurry... what do you think we'd do with The Concussion Man himself, Troy Aikman? Was Emmit Smith any more dangerous than Edge James?

The truth is, as you have seen, the Patriots have the ability to turn it on like a lightswitch when they need to, and that's the mark of a great team. And the fact that they have a great coach makes them even more dangerous. The Pats have talent, but the talent is different than being able to do individual things well. They are more precise, more deadly, more sharp than any team in history. They do what the coach tells them to do and they do it with cold-hearted and reckless abandonment. Your team made you great, Jimmy, and that's why Belichick was able to beat your team with a team as god awful as the 1994 Cleveland Browns.

The Cowboys were always able to overwhelm with talent... but good talent can ALWAYS be exploited with good coaching. Hell... ask Dan Marino.
